Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) was established in 1989 in response to the growing interdependence among Asia-Pacific economies. Its goal is to advance Asia-Pacific economy through multilateral trading system to intensify economic cooperation and reduce the barriers among its members. It has 21 nations as its members including Australia, Canada, Japan, Republic of Korea, Russia, Unites States and China. APEC 2001 was held in Shanghai, 2001.

The challenge
APEC 2001 is the most momentous international summit hosted by China. Its complicated process is a huge challenge to implementation of the system. The delegations of the 21 members have a total 12000 distinguished guests. The conference was held right after the "9.11" terrorist attack, extremely high security measures had to be in place on the conference registration, processing and management.

The Solution
Wonders, winning bid of the project in April 2001, worked around clock for 5 months to successfully develop a highly-secured, stable system. The system has a MAN/LAN structure that ensures a smooth information flow and the high performance. It connects those important meeting sites including Pudong International Airport, Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, Shanghai International Convention Center, APEC Online Registration Center and other 27 relevant hotels.
