The Client
Shanghai International Airport Corp (SIA) is responsible for the operation and management of the only two airports in Shanghai, namely Pudong International Airport and HongQiao Airport. SIA has been opened to navigation with 116 cities worldwide and established business relationship with more than 50 airlines. In 2000, SIA ranked NO.2 for its annual passenger (17.7M passengers) and No.1 for its annual cargo transportation capacity (879 thousand tons) in China.

In its first stage of operation, Shanghai Pudong International Airport is capable of 126 thousand flights annually to handle 20 million passengers and 750 thousand tons of cargo and post. When the airport is completely constructed, its annual passenger transportation capacity will reach 80 million, annual cargo capacity of 5 million.

The challenge
Shanghai Pudong Airport is designed to be one of the largest and most advanced airports in the world. Due to the regulatory and geographic difference, each airport has its own characteristics and needs that require special solutions and applications. In fact, lack of reference is the key challenge for the project.

The Solution
As a chief consultant, Wonders successfully assisted SIA in accomplishing the planning & design of the information system of Pudong International Airport. Then Wonders helped SIA draft tender documentation and tender the winning system integrators. Finally on behalf of SIA, Wonders conducted the general management on project implementation, quality control and project acceptance.

As an implementation manager, Wonders successfully accomplished the planning, design, and implementation of the airport low voltage and information system.
